Kathleen “Kathy” Ann McDowell passed away on October 25, 2016 in Richland. Kathy was born in Price, UT on September 10, 1948 to James Kenneth Anderson and Joyce Ann Anderson. The family moved to Richland when Kathy was four years old.

She attended Sacajawea Elementary School, Lewis and Clark Elementary School, Carmichael Junior High School and graduated in 1966 from Richland's Columbia High School. She graduated from WSU in 1970 with a BA in Anthropology.

After college, Kathy moved to San Francisco, CA and then to Spokane, WA. She later moved back to Richland and went to work at Computer Science Services, Boeing Computing and Kadlec Hospital doing computer services and programming.

She met and married Paul McDowell, and together they lived in Benton City until his passing.

Kathy loved her pet cats, needlework and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed going to the Tri-City Americans games and watching the Seahawks. She valued getting together with her friends, and they spent many great times together.

She is survived by her mother, Joyce Ann Anderson; and by her brother and sister-in-law, Bob Anderson ('57) and Teresa Anderson.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul McDowell; and by her father, James Kenneth Anderson.

Viewing was from 4:30pm to 7pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Einan's. The graveside service was at 11am on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
