William Lee Brown III, 39, died Thursday, September 24, 1987 at the Veteran's Hospital in Walla Walla. He was born April 28, 1948 in Richland and lived there his whole life. He attended Spalding Elementary School, Carmichael Junior High School and was a member of the Class of 1966 at Richland's Columbia High School until he enlisted in the service in 1965.

Lee was a security guard with the Metropolitan Security Company in Wallula. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Tri-Cities Chapter No. 335. He was instrumental in the formation of this group and served as the chapter's historian. Lee was also a member of Vietnam Veterans support group and assisted in the construction of the Vietnam Memorial in Kennewick.

Survivors include his parents, Bill and Lenore Brown of Richland; daughters, Camela and April Brown of Kennewick; sister, Barbara Brown Webster ('57) of Bellevue; and grandmother, Iva Dodd of Kennewick.

Graveside services and inurnment were at Resthaven Cemetery in Richland.

"I am writing in regard to William Lee Brown III who did not actually graduate but left school to join the Army in 1965 (he would have graduated in 1966). Lee served three tours of duty in Vietnam, came home, married, had two daughters and then died in 1987 from the effects of Agent Orange. it would be nice to see his name included in the list of classmates (even though he didn't graduate) and the list of deceased."
