Jean Ann Ellerthorpe Countryman, 73, of Buzzards Bay, MA died Saturday, October 2, 2021 at her home unexpectedly in her sleep.
Born in Detroit, MI on June 25, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Redeker) and Billy Jay Ellerthorpe.
Jean graduated with the Class of 1966 from Richland's Columbia High School. She then studied at Gonzaga University, the University of Washington in Sociology, at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she received her Master of Social Work degree and further studied Pastoral Ministry at Seattle University where she received her Master of Arts degree.
She lived in Ellensburg, WA for many years and was an academic advisor at Ellensburg High School. She moved to Buzzards Bay, MA in 2012 and was an academic advisor at Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Jean loved animals and was currently fostering two cats. She enjoyed cross-stitch, books, movies and card games. She adored her family and friends. She was kind, loving, faithful and had a generous spirit.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Barry Leonard of Plymouth; and two grandchildren, Bradford and Samuel Leonard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at St. Mary’s Church in Onset, MA. Interment will be at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to Plymouth Helping Hands for Animals; P.O. Box 214; Manomet, MA 02345. Linda Kaye Ott Beaver, age 73, passed away on September 18, 2021 at OHSU in Portland due to complications from cancer surgery.
