Katherine "Kathy" Gire Hurt, age 55, of West Richland passed away on September 1, 2003 at her home. She was born on June 1, 1948 in Richland to Ann and Lester Gire ^Sr.

She attended Christ the King School, Carmichael Junior High School and graduated with the Class of 1966 from Richland's Columbia High School.

Kathy worked as a technician for G.T.E and retired in November 2007. She was a member of the VFW #7952 Ladies Auxiliary and a life time member of WOTM #1377 in West Richland. She was also a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Robert; her mother, Ann Gire; her sister, Ruth Gire Yearout ('69) [Rick]; her brothers: Bill Gire ('67) [Marion Perkins Diel Gire ('65)]; L. L. Gire ^Jr ('70); Ed Gire ('71) [Patty] and Terry Gire ('72 honorary); Laurie Larkin [Tim]; Becky Myers and Rob Hurt; also step-sons, Robert and Mathew.

She is preceded in death by her father, Lester, who passed away on March 15, 1988.

A Memorial Mass was held at Christ the King Church on Wednesday, September 3, 2003. Donations may be made to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House; 2108 W. Entiat Avenue; Kennewick, WA 99336. Or donations may be made to Christ the King Building Fund; 1126 Long Avenue; Richland, WA 99352. Please, no flowers. A private inurnment was held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Einan's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
