Judith Ann "Judy" Skogen, age 70, passed away February 2, 2019 at 5:00pm in Hayden, ID. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Finn Skogen; her children: Anna-Lisa Bock, Kevin Skogen, Brian Skogen and Kristina Emerson. She will be remembered by six grandchildren: Kristian, Niri, Ella, Brooklyn, Eamon and Ethan. She is also survived by her siblings, Sandy Wallace ('68) and David Kaas ('69). She was surrounded by family and friends the last few weeks and passed away peacefully in her sleep.

Judith Ann Kaas was born August 20, 1948 to Niels and Juanita Kaas in Richland. Judy grew up in Richland where she attended Lewis and Clark Grade School, Carmichael Junior High School and graduated from Richland's Columbia High School with the Class of 1966. She attended college at Columbia Basin Community College. Judy worked at Exxon where she met lifelong friends and Finn, whom she married in 1975. She lovingly raised her family at a house in West Richland where they enjoyed swimming, gardening, bike rides, walks and spending time with family. In 1989, they moved to Woodinville, WA where they would live until 2015 when they designed and built a log home and moved to Athol, ID.

She loved family and was happiest when all were together. Her grandchildren adored her and the house she built for them to gather in. She was a kid at heart, and her grandkids loved playing with her. They will always hold a special place in their hearts for their Grandma Judy.

Judy enjoyed bowling, swimming, water skiing, fishing, snow skiing, hiking, camping, soccer, badminton, water fights, gardening, genealogy and making sure the family tree was updated, family reunions, road trips, the beach, the kite festival, bike rides, taking family pictures, yoga, kickboxing, laughing, exploring, picking blueberries, apples and strawberries, making apple cider, dogs and long walks. Judy would laugh at anything. Once she started, she could not stop, resulting in weakened knees, collapsing legs and fits of giggles wherever she dropped.

We will always remember Judy as a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, cousin and friend. She had a strong spirit admired by all. We have many memories that will make us laugh for years to come. The depth of our heartbreak is proportional to the love we had for Judy, and that she had for each of us. She made each of us a better person and her legacy and traditions will be passed on for generations to come.

A celebration of life was held at 2pm on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Einan’s Sunset Gardens followed by a graveside service at 3pm.
