Written by Micki Meeker Ledgerwood ('63):

"Timothy George Meeker, age 71, of Richland passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland after a brief illness. He was born in Richland on May 6, 1948 where he was raised. Tim attended Jefferson Grade School, Chief Jo Junior High School and graduated with the Class of 1966 from Richland's Columbia High School.

It is with great sadness that his family and friends have to say "goodbye" so soon.

Tim recently moved back to Richland, after living in Seattle, Spokane and Yakima. His favorite home was his mountain cabin (Why Knot?) in Ronald, WA. Tim spent many years building, finishing, remodeling and improving his cabin over time. It was where he loved to relax and unwind, spend time with family and putter in his wood shop.

Tim loved to buy and sell cars and boats as a hobby. He had a great taste for home design and was an excellent finish carpenter. He spent most of his career in construction; drafting, designing and managing building of residential developments in the Seattle area for Donogh Construction. Tim also spent several of his early years serving our country in the U. S. Army National Guard from 1968 to 1972.

After he finally retired, he was free to move around to enjoy different parts of the state, as long he was within close driving distance to his cabin.

Tim had a great sense of humor, and he was a 60's hippie at heart. He was generous and kind, and often helped others when they needed it. Although he lived alone, he was not lonely. He kept himself busy with various art projects (wood or metal art) that he would make for family for Christmas presents. Last year, he made macramé plant hangers for everyone in the family, which kept him busy for many months!

He was excited about living in Richland again, and Tim was in the process of fixing up his house and landscaping the back yard. More than anything, Tim loved the Lord with all his heart. He was quick to share his faith with anyone who would listen. We know that Tim is in Heaven.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, Lowell (Mike) Meeker and Elna (Jorge) Meeker; and his brother, Eric Meeker ('74 honorary at Col High and '74 HHS graduate).

He is survived by his two children, Michael Meeker and Sarah Waters both of Fort Wayne, IN; grandsons, Brennen and Devon Waters; sisters: Micki ('63) (Mike) Ledgerwood of Pomeroy, WA; Anita Meeker of Clarkston, WA; Trish ('70) (Mark) Duncan of Homer, AL; brother, Kent ('75HHS) (Val) Meeker of Pasco; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Tim also left behind many friends and acquaintances he made along the way.

Tim's ashes will be buried at the place of his choosing. The family requests no gifts, but suggests a donation, in his name, to be made to the charity of your choice. Celebration of Life plans will be made later."

Einan's at Sunset handled the arrangements.

His death notice was published in the Tri-City Herald on September 4, 2019.
