From Joanne's sister, Marie Ruppert Hartman ('63):

"Joanne Doreen Ruppert Crook passed away at her home in Ocean Shores, WA on Tuesday, April 27, 2010. The cause of death was metastatic breast cancer that she fought valiantly for over 12 years. She was 62.

Joanne was born on January 30, 1948 in Renton, WA to Bernard and Dora Dungan Ruppert. She was a member of the Class of 1966 at Richland's Columbia High School.

On June 2, 1972 Joanne married Richard G. "Dick" Crook in Everett, WA. He survives her at the family home.

Joanne was involved in banking in Seattle and had worked for her husband's NW Advertising in Bellevue, RNW Marketing and the $2 Only Store in Ocean Shores. She was a member and the treasurer of the Ocean Shores Baptist Church.

Joanne enjoyed cooking, walking on the beach with her dogs and loved being with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Dick; Joanne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Courtney Crook of Rowlett, TX; her daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Peter MacMaster of Healy, AK; son-in-law, Mike Hill of Marysville, WA; brothers: Gene Ruppert ('65) of West Richland; and John ('67) and wife, Elaine Roberts Ruppert ('67), of Mesa, AZ; sisters: Marie Ruppert Hartman ('63) and husband, Lance ('60 honorary) Hartman, of Richland; Kathy Ruppert Johnson ('71 Renton HS) and husband, Terry Johnson, of Black Diamond, WA; and Lorraine "Rainey" Ruppert Cottrell ('74 Renton HS) of Des Moines, WA; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her daughter, Carole Hill, preceded her in death in 2007.

A memorial service was held at the Ocean Shores Baptist Church on Thursday, May 6, 2010. The family scattered her ashes on the beach that she so loved in Ocean Shores, WA."

NOTE: Her brother-in-law, Lance ('60 honorary), passed away June 26, 2021.

Her brother, Gene ('65), passed away January 15, 2022.
